DB2 Mainframe Update

Maureen Zoric - Program Manager for DB2 for z/OS. Maureen will describe how the new version of DB2 for z/OS extends traditional DB2 strengths in many areas like online schema evolution, Unicode, XML, DB2 family SQL, utilities, security and compliance, and 64-bit virtual storage. Optimization improvements include performance-boosting innovations, synergy with IBM System z, and query management enhancements that reduce total cost of ownership.

DB2 Distributed Update

Les King - Program Director, Data Services Portfolio Management. Les will discuss the features of DB2 version 9 for distributed platforms including XML capability, compression, and SOA enablement. Les will also describe how DB2 Connect makes host data directly available to distributed workstations. DB2 9 for distributed platforms is the next-generation hybrid data server with optimized management of both XML and relational data. DB2 Connect provides the application enablement and robust, highly scalable communication infrastructure for connecting Web, Windows, UNIX, Linux, and mobile applications to z/OS and AS/400 data.
